Martial lined up in his second game of the season and scored his first since January in the midweek 3-0 Champions League group stage win over Young Boys in Bern, where Sanchez was an unused substitute.
Sanchez, 29, has claimed three goals for United, one fewer than Martial this calendar year, and the Chilean has struggled to transfer his productive pre-season form into the competitive campaign so far. However, Mourinho looked visibly exasperated by aspects of Martial's performance against Young Boys and was open to selling the Frenchman in the summer.
Despite Sanchez's struggles, Mourinho clarified he will be recalled for the visit of Wolves after Martial played 90 minutes in Switzerland.
"Sanchez plays tomorrow," Mourinho said. "Because Martial played 90 minutes [in Switzerland] and Sanchez played zero." When asked if Sanchez could step up to another level, Mourinho replied: "Every player has another level to step up."
United tallied their first three-goal match of the campaign against Young Boys, having led 2-0 at half-time in their previous wins at Burnley and Watford. Mourinho was encouraged that United were more clinical in Switzerland than they were in their domestic triumphs.
"I think also it depends on the opposition approach and I think we all know that Premier League matches away from home, strong experienced," Mourinho added. "I think Burnley and Watford also have credit in the way they didn't let us kill the game.
"I know we missed chances, of course we missed chances in both these matches but that is also credit for them and for their spirit. In the Watford case they score a goal and it is a different game. Against Young Boys, I don't know if it was because of the experience the boys they had recently and a desire to kill the game or whether it was a fear of our not very good adaptation to the pitch.
